The 12 levels of basement carparking includes six levels of soldier pile and shotcrete infill shoring in the upper basements before reaching the suitable vertically cut sandstone strata. The inability to temporarily anchor into the neighbour’s property on one elevation of the excavation required the need for temporary internal propping on that side.
Dunnings took an original structural engineer’s design proposal, refined column locations and introduced “walking walls” to remove almost all the originally proposed transfer structure in the building. This resulted in a significant reduction in cost, build time and structural depths to the client.
